Our History

Since 1957, our organization has been dedicated to serving the tour operator community within the United States. While our organization started as the Pharmaceutical Industry for Tour Directors, by 1964 we expanded our reach beyond pharmaceuticals to become the National Association of Professional Tour Directors. Most recently, we have been recognized as the Guest Relations Association, making that change in 1978 to capture the full breadth of our industry.  However, in 2024 we are excited to launch under a new name as the Brand & Experience Tourism Association!
